Bateson

Hi,

i kno it seems a bit silly to have this on its own but what the hell! Anyways does anyone know what bateson is like? cos i put it down as my choice for accomodation (as it is the cheapest i think). i kno its single sex but is tht like the WHOLE HALL or is it just in the flats.

any responses appreciated

first off, ^ eh?...

but anyways, bateson:

it's...alrite...

the single sex thing. there are several flats on each floor and each flat is single sex. so you would be in a girl's flat but you could have boys as next door neighbours.

it's not the nicest of halls, obviously. and you share a bathroom with your flatmates, which could be iffy but you might lie with really clean people..

i'm sure there are people on here who could give better descriptions of the place, cause i only went there for 5minutes one day to visit a friend and i never went back - she lived with stinky people!

no no no, it's not that bad..

i think i remember reading that out of all the self-catered halls, bateson has got the most "community" feel about it..

and they have a really nice cat that hangs round there

Bateson is most probably the lively of halls. I've just recently moved out of there myself.

The flats themselves are single sex, however the floors aren't. Therefore, you are quire likely to be opposite a flat of the opposite sex.

Bateson is also very central to the University itself allowing you to get up 10 minutes before the start of the lecture.

If you have any other questions just fire them ahead.

Ah darnit, the private place is still occupying people who won't be moving out till next year, now they tell us sheesh! Halls it is then! :p: Thinking of going to Margaret Rule, Looks a bit retro from the outside, but what about inside? Since it's the same pricing as Trafalgar and James Watson, shouldn't be in a too bad condition right? Views appreciated pleeease

It looks just as much as an office inside as welll as out. Walls are also very thin.

Bonuses are mix sexed flats (not always a good thing) and en-suite.

Student gym is about 3 minutes away. £120 a year for unlimited use.

Bateson people range from alright to tossers. Same as everywhere really.

Trafalger is definitely one of the nicer halls along with James Watson. Definitely the two halls I would opt for if re-applying.

So yeh, addagrrr8, it'll be great if you could send pics of the place (didn't show it in brouchure :frown: ), apparently it's one of the bigger rooms out of Traflagar and J.W?

Fabulous  I've put trafalger first, james watson second.
To everyone else applying for accomodation, how many choices did you put down? Because I only put about 5 out of the 13

5 should be more than sufficient. I didn't apply for halls until late July and still got my 3rd choice.

ok good thats reassuring, I really want to get into my 1st/2nd so I sent it off like the day after I got the form without properly thinking about whether I should have put more choices down :p:
