1. i was in james watson and i always had to go to the post office to pick up parcels, even if they were a teensy bit fatter than a regular envelope and could easily have fitted through the post boxes..

2. wasn't bateson an actual prison, back in the day..?

yeah i heard it was a womens prison or something

BATESON IS A PRISON.
tiny rooms, tiny desk, shared bathroom.
unlike what has been said you are not in the middle of everything.. that would be a definition of James Watson.

the only time you pick up post from bateson is if it is delivered by courier i.e. Parcel force, City link etc. or royal mail special delivery (if you are lucky) anything sent royal mail that is bigger than a normal envvelope will go to the post office which is in town.

and again emphisis on the teeny tiny rooms. i hated the place.
sorry to be so down on you (you will have a great time no doubt) but im telling it like it is.

It is in the middle of everything! It's a five minute walk from the SU and a five minute walk from commercial road. Plus it's only a minute away from the library which is good. Oh, and because it's so near the train station, it's not such a nightmare when you're laden down with bags and such!

The shared bathroom wasn't that bad. I think I only had to wait for the shower a couple times the whole time i was there. Mainly because none of my flatmates were on the same course as me.

Oh, one of the more irritating things that happened to me when I was living in Bateson was when one of my flatmates left for another block in the first semester. This wasn't annoying because I was friends with her but because she saw fit to leave with my plates. Grr! lol

tiny rooms, ahhh man! Are they like box rooms or smaller than that?

What's up with the post!! Grrr indeed.

How far is the halls from everything?

Thank you for telling it like it is, much appreciated.

Its not far from anything, i mean all of the self catered halls that arnt on langstone are all right in the middle. dont get me wrong you are close to everything (bateson is directly opposite Harry Law) you're just a bit further away from the uni buildings and the union tahn if you were in JW.

yea they are tiny box rooms. as i remember maybe a few feet longer than the bed. you also get a very small desk compared to the other halls (where you get one that stretches pretty much the length of a wallor round a corner.

The post: anything letter sized will come to you. anything else sent royal mail (i.e. jiffybags anything from amazon etc) will go to the PO (which is maybe a 5 min walk?) anything by specialist courier will go to the bateson reception.

Oh comeon now, JW is only about a 3 minute walk from Bateson anyway! And as for the post... It happened to us in Trafalgar too,and its a major pain in the arse. Why can't they just deliver all stuffa bit too big to reception!? At least I won't have to put up with that this year!

as i said im sure you will have a great time
pompey is a great uni and your experiance wont be hindered by where you stay, its the people that will make it for you.

its just really not to my taste (especially i llike to have a large desk!), but i dont see the point in sugarcoating it for someone who will find out in a month what its like anyway
