Just another wee thread for foodies to get involved in the posts of their peers!
In this thread, very simply, we post one thing we are thinking about eating (or not - nobody will actively check in your home if you have eaten said thing. I promise. Unless you ask nicely....)
The following person decides what the original poster will be having with it. So if the person is feeling lovely and foodpornolicious, if the first guy said "Toast" - the second person might say "Melted Cheese and Baked Beans!" - what an awesome second poster. That second poster deserves a kiss and/or high five, depending on how homophobic they are about my interactions with them.
But in the same breath, the second poster could just as easily write "Tinned Carrots", which is quite a cruel proposal for anyone after a great little yin to the toastie yang.
The second poster can then post what THEY are going to eat, and let poster three add a little special something to it!! So you can choose to embellish their dish with some awesome, or with some evil!
This and That Makes My Dinner. Make a Stinker, Make a Winner?
In that case, Mark85, I think you'd find it hard to beat the classic combination of Pease Pudding, English Mustard and Ham Hock! The trifecta of tinglage on the tongue. Wouldn't you agree?
I mean, I for one wouldn't kick that out of bed. Mouth-bed.
I'M THINKING ABOUT EATING.... A CHOCOLATE-CHIP COOKIE.
Sounds ace. A gourmet version of boiled tinned ham and pease pudding that I used to be fed. Other than that, I think the main other way I had it was roasted off a market stall so that it had a crispy stuffing style top layer. ...
For chocolate chip cookies*, I suggest getting a small tub of vanilla ice cream and 'spreading' your cookies with it to make an ice cream sammich. You could also save a bit of ice cream and the final cookie and crumble it through the ice cream for a luxury topping (beats the hell out of sticky sauces imo) I actually love doing this with Ginger nuts but I think cookies would serve a fine substitute.
Tonight, I will be finishing off a packet of tortilla breads (and i had them with Mexican style chicken and peppers for dinner so want something different)
* you will note that I ignored the 'a' and assumed this was a typo and meant 'some'. Afaiaa, there is no 'a' cookie - that would be like splitting the atom, a bunch of cookies being an unsplittable unit
For TORTILLA WRAPS, I suggest getting some CORNMEAL and PAPRIKA/CHILLI POWDER.
Let me explain! You want to use something with a little hum of heat to it, and scatter it on the baking tray. If you're able, use a mixture of Paprika, Chilli Powder, Cayenne and Rock Salt and Cornmeal. Scatter it all equally on the baking tray. Now, cut your remaining Tortilla Wraps into eight equal segments through the centre - pie-style. Toss the segments on the baking tray and coat the segments liberally. Now, put the entire tray under the grill and toast on either side and VOILA!! You have instant home-made epic spicy mega-nachos.
I know that's technically a FEW things but mixed together they form... one seasoning. *cough*
If you're thinking savoury, then add some tinned tuna and a sprinkle of cheddar, and grill if desired. Quick and tasty! Sweet old naturally be golden or maple syrup. Bish bash bosh. Damn tasty nosh.
One of my ultimate favourite drinks involving vodka is a few measures of vodka, chopped chunks of watermelon and crushed ice, smashed in the glass with a stirrer, and a tiny bit of mint added to it. It's BROOTIFUL.
If you're having peas, I suggest you add MINT and/or BACON LARDONS!
Mint gives it an aromatic kind of sweetness. The lardons give it a salty meaty bite that takes your peas, changes them from a side dish to a full meal! Though the above picture has them with cod and potatoes, I can attest that peas, lardons and mint is a full meal in itself!
