thankyou my dear.. just thought of that before you typed it.. i thought that text1 doesn't conform to its conventions??

any other links just between text 1 and 4 now. cus thats all im doing... xxx
    Hey Lulu

I'm thinking the main link between text 1 and 4 is the idea of struggle. Socialism/Revolution is seen as a struggle, so it compares to the struggle witnessed by Estragon and Vladimir in Waiting for Godot. Also, both have the use of rhetoric, especially parallelism. Then when you mention parallelism, you can talk about the different purpose of it for both extracts. Whilst text 1 uses it to show characters, text 4 uses it as a form of journalist conventions.

Also, if you're going into some pretentious deeper meaning, you could say the parallelism in text 1 reflects the tedium and meaningnessles of everyday life, and text 4's parallelism reflects the repetitive and seemingly endless nature of bourgeoisie dominance (Marxism)

    Is that a help??

i really think the main focus of text 1 is the idea that hope of something better is what keeps us imprisoned in the tedium, if we could understand the finality of life we could end the journey and find true peace.
the search/journey for freedom is the force which imprisons us!!!

yeh and then text 4 is also searching for something better,... a more equal sharing, ownership of land... searching for communism ?

Well we have been 'advised' (translated HAVE TO in my teachers book) to do three texts as well as the unseen ones. so i would say all 3 but if you're going to do 2, 4 & 7 link well. just look at the idea of marxism and class struggle - the negative lexis emphasises this (modifiers too). just talk about bourgeoisies dominance over the proliteriate

    What you think?

    Hey everyone,

Just caught up on the latest posts. Thanks for evry1's help!
I noticed ther were a couple of question on the intro 2 the essays and main body.

My teacher said 2 take each text u will use and state the main way journeys are represented in each one, possibly linking texts briefly.

The main body should then be made up of the way journey's are represented and atts and vals should follow naturally-rememba not 2 put random atts and vals!Analysis of language should also be used to support for ideas/points made.

Sorry to any1 hu alredy no's this or those with other good structures.Just thought it myt help.

    Good luck 4 2moro evry1!

    makes perfect sense really

perhaps if none of the journeys were taken then the partys would be more successful, and happier without such struggle
