Yeah, I've been there before, I meant it at the time but things changed. It wasn't just the other person in tears.

Want to talk about it?

Me?

Anyone. I can't be motivated to do my chemistry anyway.

no dont want to talk about, just warning people to be careful with there words. Yeah i know what u mean things do change. but if that does happen explain that to the other person just be careful with peoples feelings thats all im saying

You just contradicted yourself. You said you shouldn't make promises unless you can keep them, but if things change, it's ok to break a promise?

I know where you're coming from anyway.

Yeah, I was careful. This girl meant the world to me, I really believed I was in love and would be with her forever. Unfortunately I was young, and unsure of my sexuality. The cold harsh truth of it is, I turned out to be straight...like a backwards version of someone realising they're gay, I tried to deny it to save the other person but in the end I had to tell her. The whole experience broke my heart.

(Also avoiding my chemistry revision :p:)

I think that you should never, ever promise someone unless you're sure you can keep it. As teenagers, I don't think any of us are in a position to know what we want/what will happen in the future, and things change. To the OP: good advice

definitely know where you are coming from, i broke up with someone a couple of weeks ago who made me a promise about something and didnt keep it. I know in the spur of the moment sometimes you just come out with 'I promise....' but its def true that these words shouldnt be taken lightly especially if one person takes them to be true and the other less so.
