Edexcel A level books which order?

Hi

Quick question

Which order should the Edexcel A level books be studied in :

C1, C2, C3, C4 , then FPx

or C1, C2, FP1, C3, C4 then FP2 and FP3

Have a feeling I have read somewhere it should be the latter - (just coming to the end of C2)

Cheers

You're sorta right as most people follow the latter order that you mentioned. Really there's no definite order you HAVE to follow, as long as you've covered the prerequisite material.

Here's the list:

Module: Prerequisites:
C1 None
C2 C1
C3 C1-2
C4 C1-3
FP1 C1-2
FP2 C1-4, FP1
FP3 C1-4, FP1
M1 None
M2 C1-3, M1
M3 C1-4, M1-2
M4 C1-4, M1-3, FP1-3
M5 C1-4, M1-4, FP1-3
S1 None
S2 C1-2, S1
S3 C1-2, S1-2
S4 C1-2, S1-3
D1 None
D2 D1

(Can't remember where I originally got this information otherwise I would credit my source!)

As you can see, FP1 only requires you to have finished C1 and C2, but you can't move onto FP2 and FP3 until you've finished C3 and C4 as well.

Personally, I did C1 C2 FP1 and am halfway through C3 and I've found it to be a good order. There's a little crossover between FP1 and C3 in the Numerical Methods topic, which FP1 explained better so when similar stuff came up in C3 I found it super easy.

It gets more complicated with the later Mechanics units - you have to finish C3 before you can start M2 and then C4 before M3, which is really annoying for me as I'm self-teaching over the summer but will have lessons in C3 and C4 next year!

Let me know if you have any more questions!
