Rules have now been changed, since 2004, you can now retake a module however many times you want, with the best mark standing. So yeh, you can actually take a module 4 times in two years

I think I remember reading somewhere the Edexcel Chemistry units could only be repeated once... Not too sure about that though

As far as i'm aware you can take it as many times as you want, as long as it is possible to do so, obviously some a-level exams can only be taken once, but as far as I know AS exams can be taken up to 4 times.

say you want resit all AS levels for physics and your doing your A2s, do you have to decline the AS grade, and cash it in so it is available if you do worse or something like that, before you can retake?

If you're carrying it on to A2, you don't need to decline your AS grade- any more marks you gain from resits will automatically be added to calculate your final A-level grade. If you just want to do the AS, you have to decline the grade.

I think you can retake as many times as you like - but you might have a nasty school like mine who only let you do 2 retakes per exam "season", and you might be very silly like me and get ill for one of them and so not be able to becasue of your other retakes. I make sense
