I'll only be at Halton in Oct if someone drops out of this years intake for OT Tech, which is unlikely, so prob be at Halton in June. OT Tech's on prioty at mo which is why it is going so fast! Having said that I've still got medical, fitness test and specialist interview to get through

im available most days during the week really its a case of let me know when your free and im most likely free to go.
Friday this week is a maybe, next week im all booked up down in lincolnshire and the week after that, tuesday to friday should all be free.

Ahh well, it wouldnt take me much to make a detour via paisley and pick you up, its probably quicker to get along to lomond that way anyway, rather then going the backroad direct route that i'd normally have to take
Ehm.. well how about this friday then? I'm off Thur and Fri, so I'm available - though I will be hungover as Scott (best mate) and I are going out in fashion on Thursday (yes, Thursday the STUDENT'S I love to loath night... but we'll enjoy anyway!)

That's not funny. Not my fault the colour theme is silver and pink, but I have to say, I do look rather fetching in my GREY suit!!! :p: It's the pink socks I'm worried about...
I have a silver suit too (I have too many suits): the chicks love them! Pink tie: ''once you lose the masculinity...'' and ''once you got pink, you never go back.''

Thats when I originally thought i would be going in any-way just happpening a bit quick! I've been waiting a while know so used to it, only if i had a date in June and iwas definatly going in then the waiting would be different at least I would know it was definalty happening!

Might not happen yet anyway, got to pass fitness test and I've got about two weeks to get up to scratch, 200% effort all the way.

This is going to sound like a stupid question but its better asking here than ringing up my AFCO. I've got my medical tomorrow and just wondered if you had to go smart to it or not. Its just its going to be the hotest day of the year tomorrow and my medical is at the hotest part of the day 12:30! Can anyone offer any advise please? Thankyou

I'd go smart but ditch the jacket, if you have some combination that can do that ie tailored skirt/trousers and tailored shirt, but open neck, no jacket sort of thing. Don't blow the whole gaff by turning up in your ripped jeans and Deff Lepard t-shirt, but there is no need to do the whole 'I can dress like an accountant' malarky.

Oh, and always best underwear for a medical

I'm on my selection interview tomorrow, I was planning to wear my suit, but I'm going to go for suit trousers and smart top, but should i take my jacket or not? I don't want them to think I'm nuts as it's likely to be 20-odd degrees but I don't want to look as though I haven't made the effort?

Was so busy worrying about everything else I'd forgotten about it being boiling hot! (And my guns n roses tshirt is in the wash!)

Its going to be about 32 degrees in south yorkshire tomorrow! Your interview in Sheffield? I had my interview in Sheffield yesterday and I put my jacket on just before i walked in. When i got in there it was so hot no air con in main office bit! When I went into my interview I asked if it was ok to take my jacket off and he look at me as if I was wierd for asking. People were turning up to ther army interviews yesterday in trousers, shirt and tie with no jacket! I dont think it would be a problem if you didnt wear it but if you take it I'm sure they would judge you either way!

Thanks for the advice about my medical, think it will have to be a skirt and top oh and sensible underwear!

As Toria suggests, put the jacket on just before you go in, then ask if you can take it off. Ignore them if they look at you as if you are weird, you aren't, it's the polite thing to do. I can assure you that that is what the AOC would expect if you were meeting him.

The general principle is, if in doubt, over dress ie go for the more formal option. Then if it seems wrong when you get there a) at least you were showing some respect for the occasion and b) you can usually ditch the jacket, tie or whatever, to better suit the mood.

since im off to cranwell from sunday to wed/thurs im just wondering about the pickup from grantham and the times taken by the pickup on say the return.
Im really just trying to work out train times to see if its worth staying an extra night or going home on the wednesday evening, although that would depend on what time the course does finish on the Wednesday

With regards to wearing a suite, I would always wear one to an interview regardless of the weather. It shows true dedication to wear one in the heat we are having and should reflect well on you!

It will be even more impressive if you collapse from heat stroke or go down with dehydration!

Shorts and sunnys, t'is the way forward.

With all due respect, if you go down from either of those through merely wearing a suite on a hot day, I dread to think what would happen during the more physical training in the services - especially if it takes part on a hot day!

People have gone down with worse from much less.

H&S is getting pretty strict at the moment and many strenuous (sp?) activities are being curtailed weather dependent. A couple of weeks ago I was on a march and shoot which was cut down from a 2 mile run to a 500m dash!

OASC tends to finish early afternoon, and it takes about 30 minutes tops to get into Grantham. Can't remember the exact time it finishes.
