PGCE funding with four years previous study.

Hi Mark,

I really hope you can help me! I am just about to begin my third year at University. I am hoping to go on to do a PGCE beginning September 2014, if I am lucky enough to get a place!
I had two years funded study at a different University studying a different course. I therefore had to fund the first year of the course I'm currently on myself and Student Finance have funded me for my last two years study.
My question is will I be able to apply for financial support for my PGCE tuition fees? I did speak to someone over the phone about this and they told me it was deemed separate and so I would be able to. I just wanted to make sure!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there,

The PGCE courses are exception courses that the government provide full funding for regardless of previous study. The eligibility for funding would still be based on the normal criteria but previous study isn't normally taken into consideration.
