Life at Edinburgh vs life in London

Hi! I'm working on masters applications for 2014 entry and I'm starting to consider Edinburgh Uni. My other possibilities are SOAS, UCL, Kings, and Birmingham.

I guess my main question would be, what is the main difference between life in Edinburgh and London? (And Birmingham, if any of you have knowledge of it!)

I spent 6 months in Glasgow earlier this year on exchange at Strathclyde but didn't get to spend much time in Edinburgh other than for touristy stuff. Any major differences between these two cities??

Thanks!

Edinburgh

a/ is a bit more expensive
b/ is a bit dryer and colder
c/ is a bit more sunny and less rainy
d/ is much, much more touristy
e/ has a bigger airport
f/ will have a tramway line (hopefully!)
g/ is cleaner
h/ is a bit postcard-ish city
i/ hosts the unique Fringe Festival in August
j/ doesn't have die-hard fans of either Celtic or Rangers (but not both)
k/ has a castle
l/ hosts the Scottish Parliament
m/ and last but not least - hosts her majesty the Queen

As you can see, from what I wrote, not that much difference. Population wise, both cities are similar. What subject(s) do you want to study?

I'm looking at African Studies or Global Health/Development. I've always wanted to live in London but Edinburgh has a good program too... Makes it tough!!
