# C3 Functions watch

1. hey guys

i just started the C3 unit yesterday at school and i need help with a function question:

The function f(x) is defined as f(x) = (2x + 3)/(x - 1) with x never equalling 1.

Express f(x) in the form:

f(x) = a + b/(x - 1)

thanx very much

from hatty341
2. If you divide 2x+3 by x-1 you will end up with a constant (a) and a constant (b) that you put over the x-1. Hope that helps.
3. f(x) = (2x + 3)/(x - 1)
f(x) = (2x - 2 + 5)/(x - 1)
f(x) = 2 + 5/x - 1
