Changing courses at aston uni

hiya, i was rejected for business&management at aston uni due to low predicted grades and was offered logistics insted which i accepted as firm. I am doing a BTEC national diploma in business and hoping to achieve a DDD and is wonderin if i achieve these grades, wud it possible to change to a course in the business school or do they dislike BTEC? cuz i realy hav no interest in logistics/transport. if they wont let me change to a single honours business course then would it be possible to change it to business admin+public policy management (a combined honours)? i realy need sum adviceee, thankss!

Here's the page of the Entry Requirements for the Business School: http://www.abs.aston.ac.uk/newweb/programmes/undergraduate/entryreq.asp

That page gives an email address to the Admissions Office: [email protected] who should be able to help you. DDD might not be enough, but there's no harm in asking

Good luck!

i'll be honest with ya, Aston are quite strict with their entry requirements for their business course's yep this is sad but its true ( i got 280pnts and they won't let me transfer to comp sci with business management from comp sci which is odd), the only way u may get onto a business course is by completing the first yr of your current course passing with at least 69% then transferring to the first yr of your chosen business course, or gain at least 320pnts some how, However if you do get your DDD, then i can guarantee you will certainly will get into your chosen business course

hmmm people have said that they are lenient when letting people in that get say BBB or something (maybe more so with the new 3K top up fees this year), maybe they are a little harsher for people who are already on courses as I’ve noticed the business courses have some of the highest entrance grades compared to most of Astons courses. Still though I hope that they are more lenient for new applicants.

Hello

I can give you advice on the universities admissions, I am graduate of the university.

The aston business school has an outstanding reputation and easily some of the best facilities in the entire university, their courses are also very recognised in industry. However not necesserily the hardest in the university by any means.

There entrance requirements reflect their industrial recognition, ABB

However I know that combined honours courses have lesser requirements from there candidates, you are very likely to find courses in the clearing lists.

I am quite sure that you have a much greater chance in obtaining admission to a combined honours course, so dont be disheartenend

take care

If you ring to confirm it, could you not ask then if you can change?

Lollypop you might want to cease the initiative here and visit the university and perhaps try to schedule a meeting with the admissions department that is responsible for your desired course.

I do know the course which you were referring too and i can say that it isnt the most popular which is obviously beneficial to you as there could be places in clearing.

I do know or think that the logistics and the public policy courses are in independant departments, but im so sure that if you contact the right people they can tell you the course availability for your desired course and maybe even reserve a space for you in the clearing process. You may have to tell ucas your going through clear and select the space to make it a formality

let me know how you get on

o thanks for your replies. i emailed da business admissions n they sed that they would most likely be able to offer me an unconditional offer with DDD but i need to contact da logistics admission first to send dem a copy of my ucas form n i need to send them my results sheet in which i dnt hav because my colege jus sent us a letter informing us our confirmed results, they didnt actuali send us a results sheet with all our unit grades n dat so im gna go in colege to see if i cn get hold of that first. but dnt the uni receive it via ucas anyway? dats wat im confused on because its holidays nw n colege is closed :s
