So far i've done the C4 Mock, Specimen and January Paper as well as the June 05, and the Edexcel Practice Papers A:1, A:2 and so forth are too difficult??!?!?

Are they designed like this or could we be expecting this this year??!? HOPE NOT!

I meant the Edexcel Practice Papers are harder than the Mock, Spec., Jan 06 and June 05 papers!

well i think that the practice papers are meant to be harder cos they are for practise just like the solomon papers

Yes they are more difficult. I found them harder than Solomon's and the official papers.

They are good practice. Another reason why they may seem harder is that most of the questions appear to have been taken out from the latter parts of previous P3 papers. So you'll find there are no easy opening questions, just ones that carry lots of marks and require lots of working.

Also some of the papers have too much trig and functions, which are C3 material, so in that sense they're not as good as they could be.

There were five (Six?) 'practise papers' (ie, questions stolen from old P3s) released by Edexcel at some point.

What's the mock and specimin paper thing all about?
Could someone upload them here or something, please?

[edit] Lusus - I sent them to your e-mail (via the Forum thing).

I think the practice papers are just made up from old P3 questions, so there's bound to be C3 / extra stuff in there. And they probably miss out some topics that are new on the new system too. Haven't done them yet but that's the plan for tomorrow.

Mock specimen and Real papers were given to me... but u can find the specimen paper online and everyone shud have the mock or theres a link above...

I'm glad you all think so cos the practice papers gave me a real shock!!! I don't need to do that well... but some were undoable... like an integration with its area on the y-axis and going through to the second quadrant and such...

I've got business in the morning as well and i havent revised!!!

Can anyone help me with this mock paper, please?
7a) I don't understand why k >0, and it's -kM because the thing is losing mass, right?

7b) WTF?? :afraid:. I'm really starting to panick!

Also 5d/e: What is the difference between the two ranges (i.e. why does the one that is between pi and 2pi have a minus? And how would you have worked out the answer to part d) if it had a different range?)

I dont know about edexcel, but the practise papers for MEI are very unhelpful. At AS i was only given them to revise from and when I got in the real exam I found the structure very different and that I was underprepared, so now I treat them with caution. Real papers are a much better resource.

7a) yes because its losing mass, and i think k has to be above 0 so that the equation stays a minus
7b)differentiate the equation they give you using 'a(to the x) lna' and your equation frm part a) should look familiar with M=10(0.98)^t and -k=ln(0.98)

5d) is a proof expanding the parametric for y and then substituting in x. 5e) however, is a mystery to me too! (only one mark really)

    hope that helps
