    Hey

Results come out tomorrow. If i get 3 A's or above i will be taking a gap and reapply medicine. If i get anything below i will apply something else, most likely chemistry, possibly biochemistry (not as likely)

Will good chemistry universities like bristol, york, southampton, manchester etc... accept me if i meet the grade requirements, since my personal statement will be fully geared towards medicine?

I was planning on doing a gap regardless, but parents are telling me its a waste of a year otherwise, and better if i go to Uni through clearing if i happen to get lower than 3A's.

So what are your ideas? What are the chances? I have no planned for clearing at all, i have only just been reading up on it in the last half hour.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, I already hold offers for medicine but if I get under 3As obviously becoming a med student isn't going to happen... I've looked through all the top unis for clearing and many do chemistry at AAB - BBB, I suppose as long as you get on the phone and say how much you want to do the course they may accept you

I would suggest writing a short PS today regarding Chemistry

If you write something down then it will do 2 things, first it will give you something to send to clearing people tomorrow, and second it will crystallise some of the things that you will want to say

Just a quick question. Since it is such short notice, the PS will not be very good. They also will know i applied medicine. If i happened to apply to that uni again (incase they didn't give me the offer or i didn't accept because i would rather have taken a gap), and they had this information, would it put me at a disadvantage for my reapplication with them?

    Thank You

I don't really understand what your plan "A" is - and whether you applied for deferred entry etc.

I'd advise you to speak to the Universities you have applied to, or intend to apply to, tomorrow if you want to start this academic year coming. If not, use UCAS.

    Hi,

We will be considering applicants for our biochemistry course.

We realise that you're applying for things in clearing that you may not have originally applied for so we'd make the decision on the basis of your grades and our conversation on the phone rather than reading your personal statement on UCAS.
