I come on here every now and then and see so many people worrying about coming to Hull because of things they've heard etc. Simply, DONT BE!
I've lived here for 18 years and i know people who have come all over to study at Hull because the uni is pretty good, and loads haven't left because they like it here that much.
- NO it isn't the worst place to live in the UK
- NO there isn't bad crime
- YES it is hard to get a job, but keep trying
- NO it isn't true that its an unsafe city.
There is so much to do in and around Hull, and other cities aren't too far away like Leeds, York, Manchester, Sheffield if you travel by train. Even London is pretty quick on the train!
The city centre is full of your usual shops you would see on any high street and then some you may not (Superdry, Boux Avenue etc) all split into three shopping centres, and many outdoor areas too. Then there are other areas to shop in Hull too such as Hessle Road, Holderness Road, Bransholme Centre, Kingswood Retail Park and close by to the Uni you have Newland Avenue and Princes Avenue which have loads of little boutiques and plenty of stylish bars and restaurants.
Theres plenty of cinemas, an ice rink, bowling and beaches located nearby. The sport is great with two major Rugby sides (You'lll get used to the rivalry) a Premier League Football side in Hull City and plenty of other sport such as Ice Hockey (Hull Stingrays) and Basketball (Hull Wasps) to name a few.
Loads of events are hosted here and the KC (Sometimes, if you're lucky) has concerts on.
The cost of living is so cheap compared to other places around the country so you'll get value for money easily!
Oh and to top it off, Hull is in the running to be Capital of Culture 2017 so even more stuff will be happening over the time you're in Hull for the build up.
If you have any questions about the area, transport, or anything like that. Feel free to contact me, but you will love Hull!
Find out how.
