I missed my offer for biochemistry at Queen Mary University, however the offer hasn't updated on track so I gave them a ring... however they said I have to wait a day... so if they reject me I will have lost a whole day for applying to clearing...

    Will
I still find clearing places in the worst case scenario if QM rejects me tomorrow?

    Any
    advice will be appreciated...
Worst case scenario you will probably be able to find something, yes

But think that best case scenario is that they accept you, so hold on hope for now :yep:

You're going to have to wait. However perhaps try ringing them again around 4 or 5 in case they've made more progress then.
In the meantime you can still do quite a lot to prepare for the worst case scenario. You don't want to leap on Clearing places without research. So have a look, and start to read up on courses that you see, and details of other Universities and locations.

Also, have you ruled out a priority remark? If your school advises you to get one, then you should tell Queen Mary's ASAP and ask them to hold out on deciding until you get the outcome at the end of the month.

QMU was my firm, and no I didn't make requirement for insurance (they've already rejected)... just have to keep waiting apparently... frustrating as I cant even go into clearing... can I call clearing places without clearing number?

You can call people but they should not really talk to you

Have you called QM again - sometimes all it takes is a different person answering the phone

You can sometimes talk to them informally without a clearing number, but nothing can be confirmed without the clearing number. A lot of universities won't speak to you without it.

I would second this. Sometimes different people say different things, so it's worth giving another ring just to clarify, but don't mention you rang earlier.

About ringing up for clearing places without a clearing number - you can try ringing up universities but it's unlikely they'll be able to confirm any places for you. The best you can probably get is a verbal offer but that is most unlikely and hardly something that you can rely on. I'd give it a try, but just make sure you explain your situation first beforehand so as to stop wasting any time.

Unfortunately with clearing, time is of the essence and it seems unfair for QMUL to be leaving you in the lurch and so significantly reducing your chances of securing a place through clearing on a competitive course.

Good luck and let us know how you get on
