I did significantly better in my A-levels than expected and I rang the uni (Manchester) this morning to change my course to one with higher entry requirements and that I preferred but I am now considering taking a gap year instead of going to my firm choice. What is the latest point that I can do this without being charged for tuition fees and accommodation?

    Thanks

Have you considered going into Adjustment?

And I wouldn't play that game with Universities. Its really not considerate, and you're stopping another student who is dying to get into Manchester from going :sadnod:.

Can you not ask to be deferred now? No guarantee that they'll say yes, of course.

The thing is that if they want to apply to places again next year, they'd still have to withdraw their deferred place.

Ah, I was under the assumption that OP still intended to go to Manchester to study the preferred course.

OP, if not, then you'll have to decline and reapply.
