Monumentally cocked up... but still got an offer from my firm to study a different course which i have never really considered-Environmental Science, Ive always wanted to go to this uni (Portsmouth) and have my heart set on it. However my insurance choice (Derby) has the course I really want to do- Human Geography... Need some advice on how to make a decision?

Take a good look at the course content to see what EnSci really entails. Does it appeal to you? Compare it to Human Geog - which has more modules that interest you?

Would you mind going to Derby? What was your gut feeling when you visited it? If you haven't, why not make a trip there to look around? You've got 5 days to decide on a Changed Course offer, so take your time

Don't rush it. Go onto Portsmouth's website and look at the course they are suggesting. Be very honest with yourself. Don't go there just because you like the place if you think that the ENV course is either going to be boring, difficult or generally not your cup of tea. Enjoying a course is vital for having enough motivation to do well at University. So you need to weigh it up very carefully.

The Geography course has more modules im interested in, but thats only because I havent studied Env Science in detail, although im sure if I did it I'd do great. Just unsure whether to take a gamble or defer my firm and look in clearing

I currently study Environmental Science at Portsmouth uni and I love it, it's a great course that can be challenging in areas, there is also a lot more science in the degree than I expected, chemistry and physics are heavily involved. It is different to human geography however in the 2nd and 3rd years you can pick more geography related units as I have done this year. I would really recommend this course.
