I'd hate to have a teacher like that! In fact one of my Lit peers hated our teacher and she hated going to her lessons. She was predicted an A but she got a C. Which personally I think because she skipped going to the teacher's lessons and missed coursework deadlines just so she couldn't see her face!

And omg, your post about your teacher are too funny!

Haha, yeah it does make it so hard to try and sit in her company. I could go on forever with stories about her

On a serious note - I think you need to give yourself some self-worth. If you slept in your lessons then no wonder you came out with bad grades. My friend (who sat next to me) in Lit slept when we were doing all the exam prep for Section B Poetry stuff and guess what? He managed to SCRAPE an E for his exam grade. By scrape, I mean one mark down it would have been a U... Which goes to show you have got to pay attention in class!

I know I sometimes didn't in my classes so I would use somebody's book to copy notes and go over them in my free period. I was watching Everybody Hates Chris and Chris got an F in his Math test and you know what his mum said (paraphrase): Chris, I know you're not stupid so don't act like it.' -lesson learned.

You claim to be 'naturally intelligent' but last year, you didn't use that intelligence to help you? So if you are not 'dumb' then don't act like it. It's honourable that you've owned up and took responsibility for your actions. Now you're facing the consequences, which is also good. Now you need to learn from your mistake. Motivation will not come looking for you. You have to find it yourself which I thought was a challenge. But you've got to find something to motivate you, something you want to aspire from! Also, as soon as possible find a revision technique that helps you!

I have a friend who failed his AS he got CDUU because he just couldn't bothered (like yourself) and this year he got DDU too (even though he claims he revised and etc, which I know he didn't because he decided to go football 20 times a week, play at the casino and work crazy-ass hours). You need to dedicate your academics with your pleasures and prioritize your time management. On the other hand, you might want to think about many A-levels aren't for you? If you literally said you found your A-levels boring then honestly, most likely you will find all of A-levels boring and God only knows what you are going to be like when you come to revision (if you get to that stage).

Bottom line is, if you claim to be intelligent then prove yourself right and get the grades you want to. No point sitting there saying "I'm so smart" then not having the evidence to back up that claim.

thanks for your post- yeah i know i've just wasted a year. But i do think i have grown up and started to realise i have responsibilities

I was in your position last year I didn't get the grades I wanted but I knew I wouldn't have done well, I am intelligent and I have good GCSE results, but GCSE's really don't prepare you for Alevels I did almost no work for my GCSE's and still got pretty good grades.

Last year in AS levels I got:
History-c
Maths-D
Biology-D
Chemistry-U

I really wanted to continue chemistry and I knew I wouldn't be able to pull the grades up to what I wanted whilst also continuing with the A2 year so I decided to go to college to retake the year.
My AS levels are now

Psychology-B
Maths-A
Biology-A
Chemistry-A

Don't give up you can still do well next year if it's definitely what you want to do.

I would say though only continuing the two and picking up the AS's might not be the best idea, you will only be able to apply to Universities that ask for a points tariff rather than specific grades, but obviously that depends on what you want to study and if you are bothered about going to a top university.

If you want any more advice I would be happy to help

Also to all those people saying intelligent people wouldn't fail the exams believe me they do, exams no longer test your intelligence they test how well you can regurgitate specifications and mark schemes

Wow, congrats. I always like seeing how people like me have turned it around, i guess it motervates me more. AS for the two a levels issue, i don't really have much of a choice and i feel that doing just two, along with resitting the as units is my safest option of not having too much work piling on top of me and causing me to go into shut down mode like i did last year

The fact you cannot spell college properly says a lot about your natural intelligence.
Good luck anyway mate

You are not born with the ability to spell college. Most teacher have told me they think i'm dyslexic, although i've never been tested because i was always doing well in school, i have always struggled with spelling and grammar. Words like collage and college that are very similar i always mix up. Also I have never really taken and interest in english/spelling (my lazy side again).

Natural intelligence in not the same as book smarts

Book smarts and natural intelligence are different yes, so just out of interest where did you get the impression that you were intelligent?

Look, please just stop going on about whether or not i'm intelligent. The point is i did no work for the whole year and failed . Anyone who does no work is going to underachieve whether they are clever or not. I don't understand why people want me to justify it.

I've been told my whole life that i'm really clever by teachers, friends, because i have always been lazy, done little work and still got good grades (until this year). I also apparently just have the knack of sorting out situations and picking things up that none of my friends even thought about. If it means anything i quickly did an iq test in a lesson me and my friend were bored in once. I got around 140, which although does not make me a genius i think that is a pretty high IQ.

Sorry if you feel i have ranted at you

Oh just about how she expects him to treat her like a queen, How he's a 'son of a bitch' and how she is looking forward to when her mother in law dies so she can get all her money. The disturbing part is that she was deadly serious and had no hint of 'it's a joke' in her voice whatsoever. She also constantly moans about his snoring keeping her up a night and how he can't cook to save his life. One time he tried to make her an anniversary meal and she said, and i quote 'the most hideous thing i have ever tasted in my life'.

Oh she also came into school completely pissed once because her husband broke her favourite calculator. Yes, her favourite calculator and she couldn't find another one the same which she could supposedly use without looking.

I just have images of some poor man/servant on his knees whilst being screamed at all day by my teacher sitting on a throne because her morning coffee wasn't the way she liked it.

LMAOO! Omg, Jesus!! This is comedy gold for me!! This is too much! LMAOO! She just sounds sooo funny! Doesn't anyone just laugh at this! Or are you guys like "ergh, not this again" kind of thing? Haha, this is soo funny!

The reason i never mention any aspirations are because i just don't know what i want to do or be yet. Preferably i'd like to do something more independent but i realise that's not at all easy. I've decided to continue at school with my two a levels that i passed. I will also resit the as levels from those subjects and as i'm only doing two subjects i think that is doable.

University is still something i am very unsure on, and at the moment i'm just hoping as i mature over the following year i will start to gather more ideas about what I hope to do after school and after education and what i actually enjoy doing therefore seeing myself able to do it for a large part of my life

Well I wish you good luck. Don't forget that you don't *need* to go and if you feel you're better placed elsewhere then jump deck and run for dry land!

Yeah we laugh, some of the things she says and does are hilarious but she has always had certain targets. The class laughs too much and she looks at all the students on her hit list and either moves them pointlessly across the room or sends them out whilst completely ignoring what the rest of the class do. Her lessons were fun back at GCSE, but after all the other students she hated left and i was left on my own all her anger was focused onto me which although can still be funny with some of her ridiculous comments and obvious hated towards me it just gets a little too much to the point i just feeling like standing up and saying ffs just shut up. I laugh afterwards though and the rest of the class are normally pissing themselves while i'm just sitting there amazed. When it's not directed at me though it's very funny:biggrin:
