I've managed to get offers from both universities for american studies. I'm just wondering if anyone has got any input in terms of pros and cons of each as I'm finding it really hard to decide.

Can't offer much in the way of the unis themselves, but remember that university is far more than just the university and the course - it's 3 (or more) years of your life, so you need to look at the cities as well.

I'm originally from Leicester, and tbh it's an ok place - the town centre is very much what you'd expect of any city, the basic collection of shops (primark, HMV, waterstones etc.) and banks, but if you venture down into the silver arcade there's a bit down there - steampunk shops and a lovely old independent record shop that come to mind, so a much of muchness overall, but a few little gems. As for drinking - a couple of good pubs (The Pub on New Walk has a great menu) but mostly Wetherspoons/Lloyds Bars - can't help on nightlife as I'm not a clubber. Leicester also does have some great little festivals that run yearly - including the yearly carribean carnival - the biggest outside of notting hill.

Overall it's a nice place, but nothing particularly special.

The university of Leicester has such a friendly feel, the campus is nice and small so you never have to worry about getting lost or having to travel far. It's also so close to the City centre just a 15 minute walk so has everything you need really close by
