Hey, so I got my AS results back, and as you may have guessed they weren't the best.

I got BBCC. B's in Biology and Geography and C's in English and Chemistry.

I want to study Biological sciences/biology at uni, and I find Chemistry really difficult and want to drop it. I got 180ums at the end of AS. I know that chem would be a better choice in terms of the career I want to follow but I am naturally better at English, although my grade does not reflect this. I didn't revise for my English exams as I was led to believe I would drop it. I got a B (1 raw mark off an A) in one unit and a high D in the other unit.

I really don't know if I could boost my grade in Chemistry - and doubt that my teachers even believe I could to be honest. Ive been looking at uni's which ask for ABB/BBB grades. (UEA, QM, QUB, HW, Aberdeen etc etc.)

Any opinions? Would it be likely that I could boost my Bio grade to an A? (220ums at AS) and then my English to a B?

    Thank you

It is certainly doable, if you put the work in!

They are good grades, and you should be looking at the ones you are looking at. With one less subject to worry about, concentrate on the three you have and really push.

This isnt at all a catastrophe, and very doable. Worth remembering that there are also resits, otherwise focus all your attention on A2, and ace those exams

Thank you! Do you think it would be a good idea to drop Chem over English?

If you feel passionate (like I do) about your subjects, then yeah! Anything is possible - as much mum has been telling me on repeat for like last, what, 3 hours?

I know it's not ideal but if you love something then you can make it work.

You can easily boost those grades if you put the work in, I resat two c grades in bio and chem this june got them up to A's... It's just a case of working at it and learning all the past papers inside out cos the questions are virtually the same as ones theyve already done...
