xxIt completely depends on the dish

For chilli I'd always go for rice over wedges.

But for a burger I'd choose chips over rice.

I think overall though I prefer rice.

Omg I have had potato curry with rice and it was lovely. I wouldn't call it a side dish in terms of indian food.
If we are talking European food then i'd say potato.

Rice...I love all kinds from egg fried rice to vegetable fried rice. I do like Daulphinose potatoes roasted with thyme as a side dish though but I always seem to go with rice when thinking about what to cook for myself for lunch and dinner !

I saw a gadget called a potato ricer last week. It makes potato imitate rice.

    Dilemma solved.

It has to be the potato. I mean, how many roast dinners do you see with rice?

I love potatoes, but my goodness, I love rice. Who cares about as a side dish? It's my main course.

Potatoes. Honestly, unless it's something that's meant to be eaten on it's own like Pizza or Pasta or chilli or something like that, I don't feel it as a proper meal without some kind of potato.

    Although I haven't met a varient of potato I haven't loved yet!

Rice, never been huge on chips and really dislike boiled or roast potatoes - rice and pasta have always been my favourites. Especially special fried rice with prawns, peas and egg! Only thing that can compete is good mash.
