Is it a requirement that all uni students get a student bank account, or can I keep my current one?
I'm not really sure what the benefits of a student account is other than an overdraft, but I have a monthly income as well as my maintenance loan so I don't ever want to use one?
But I don't know if it a mistake to not get one?

If you're sure that you'll have enough money in your account to pay for your bills/rent then it isn't necessary. But it's not just about having enough money, it's having it at the right time.

You don't have to, though most do for the interest free overdrafts and the other perks they often offer (ie santander is now offering a 4 year railcard etc)

You just need a bank account for your student loan to go into.

As others have stated, you don't need one BUT why not get one for the feebies and the 0% overdraft.

Even if you don't plan on using the overdraft it's money that you can borrow at 0%, put into savings and then reap the profit once you graduate (although not loads).
