Hey guys, basically I found out my AS Level results today, and I received AAAD. The D was in geography, and it came at a total shock, as I received an A*/A for it in my past two mock examinations. I really want to go to a top ten uni, will the D hinder my application majorly? I obviously plan to drop it. Should I appeal? Advice needed.

It shouldn't really affect it at all and you can choose not to put it on your application. My friend was in the same position last year and has now been accepted to a top uni. Unis are stopping the requirement to have 4 as' so the d shouldn't matter! Good luck!

I got AABC for my ASs today and I want to apply for Cambridge! The C was in a subject that I didn't want to take in the first place, I did it because I got A* at GCSE and everyone said it would be useful. My teachers at school said today that I can still look at Cambridge because I do so many things outside of the classroom so I shouldn't worry. I'm not sure if you have to declare your lowest grade though? I hope not!

    Well done!

No, those AS grades are great and you're going to get predicted high grades overall. Which universities?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'm looking at Exeter, Warwick, Leeds and Edinburgh for Law.

No you have to mention it - if you fail to, then a university can withdraw an offer

I don't think it's going to hinder your application massively, although obviously it's not a brilliant thing to have on your record. You'll be dropping it, and universities know that sometimes people choose subjects that aren't right for them. Make sure whoever writes your reference explains what has happened.
