I had an offer to study physics and astrophysics as long as I got ABB,

Basically I bombed out on two of my exams (Chem5 and that notorious Edexcel C3) and i've ended up with BBC

My heart is set on sheffield and i'd rather wait a year than go to a worse uni. I'd just like to know if there's any possibility at all I could talk my way into a science course (such as a foundation year)? I've rung up and they're pretty adament that ABB is their lowest clearing offer.

TLDR; Grades to low for what clearing is asking, anything I can do about it?

Well if you've rung up and got no luck then I'm not sure what else you can do I'm afraid. You can try again tomorrow, maybe talking to a different person may help, but if you get the same answer then I think it's time to look at your other options. Would you rather take a year out than go elsewhere? There's no harm in seeing where else will accept you, so you know what your options are.

In my experience of Sheffield in clearing, they're unwilling to budge over even a few marks below their asking grade, so I don't think you'll have any luck.

If you can get onto the same course at another uni, it might be worth going for it, then transferring into your second year at Sheffield.
