Hello, I am a parent and my son will start his AS levels September. All this is new to me, my husband or myself never took A levels, I am a bit concerned as next year I have booked a holiday for us and we will be away August 14th which I am thinking might be the AS level results. If it is does my son need to be around to sort out any universities or does that all come when he takes his A2 levels? After seeing the news today with students having to go through the clearing system(?) if results are not too good, I am worried now that he will have to be at home. I would be grateful if someone could advise me. Thank you so much

You can be away for AS results, there won't be anything to do that summer, apart from starting to formulate a uni application. University places are confirmed upon the receival of A2 grades in the summer of Year 13.

You don't start uni applications til upper 6th (yr 13) so clearing etc happens on A2 results day. AS levels aren't really certificated so you can be away for AS results day you can get them posted, or some colleges email the results or post them online
