Do gcse's matter when applying for Uni?

So basically I want to study Psychology at Manchester and AAB is required. If I work hard I know i'll achieve this however a grade B in english and maths is required. I got an A in maths however only a C for english, would this do anything to my chances of being accepted?

If you do not met the GCSE requirements they are unlikely to make an offer

Probably not. Best to check with the universities you want to apply to themselves
It depends. The way things are nowadays some unis may refer to peoples' GCSE grades to give out offers - one course which does this is dentistry since it is really competitive and comparing GCSE results can differentiate two similar candidates from each other. Like lunch_box said you should research into the unis you're interested in first
