    Hello,

i didn't get into my firm choice, as I missed it by 40 UMS marks. I applied to my firm choice again through clearing and was again declined, I was asked on the phone whether I had any extra points from my first year I could add to try and boost my grades up. Unfortunately I got a U in both general studies an sociology which was the subject i dropped in the first year.. Am I right to assume that I can not use these to get my extra 40 points that I need, because I failed them? Or can I still count my sociology or general studies mark in my UMS total? (My firm choice accepts general studies)

    thank you in advance x

I'm pretty sure there is, getting a U doesn't mean you got zero UMS in the exam.

    Do you mean tariff points?
If you mean you missed it by 40 tariff points, then no you can't unfortunately, because a U does not equate to any tariff points.

I didn't know some unis went by UMS marks, but if so, then I guess you could because U's still hold UMS marks.

I have to ask once again though, you sure its UMS marks and not tariff points?
