First years get accommodation in halls in the first year. I wondered about the 2-3 years after that - where do 2,3,4th years live? Are there enough houses/places and are they reasonably decent?

After the first year I think most people go to rent in the city with their friends, but I think some go back to the uni in the third and fourth years. I'm no expert though, it's just what I remember people saying on visit days.

Yep this is generally true. There are houses in Lancaster. The standard and price varies a lot. You need to start thinking about it in November, which is pretty insane.
