    Hi there,

    Got my AS results yesterday

    A for music
    A for government and politics
    C for history
    C for english

Happy about the a's, but annoyed about the other two especially as I want to study history. I know if I retook one of the history exams I could easily bring that up by a fair bit so that's not the problem, what I can't decide is whether to drop English or music. It would be nice to go into A2 sitting on an A in music, but looking back it was my least favourite subject. In addition I was really looking forward to doing English next year, but I have been aiming to get AAA-AAB. Is it worth doing English or do I need to play it safe and carry on with music?

English is better linked to History, but if you're more confident that you'll get an A in Music, play it safe.

Or, keep all 4 subjects if possible?

If your English grade was a high C, or you got a B in the exam and a C in coursework for example, you could just work on improving one of the two, and then work really hard next year to bring it up to a B. Likewise for History, although there's no coursework element, just try and ace one of the AS exams through a resit so that it'll hopefully balance out.
