I got my results yesterday and they weren't what I wanted or had hoped for. So I opted for clearing which was fairly successful and I ended up with several offers in a few hours.

Swansea was one of those offers and I was pleased at how quickly they got in touch with me both with the offer and talking to me about help with my Dyslexia next year. I added this as my clearing choice yesterday at 5 o'clock and started to look at travel and accommodation etc.

I had also applied to Kent via a webform and was very surprised to hear from them this morning with a verbal offer. The course I am applying for is Computer Science, and both Kent and Swansea have similar rankings for CS but Kent is ranked much higher overall.

I have 24hrs to make up my mind about Kent but I am very unsure, there is also the complication that if I do chose Kent then I need to find out how to cancel my clearing choice for Swansea...

    Any help is useful...

I'm going to Swansea too (but I wont be studying Computer Science).

Firstly, if they're ranked similarly in the subject rankings what does the overall ranking matter?

You've said that Swansea have said that they're going to help you with your Dyslexia. Will Kent do the same?

You also have to consider which university you prefer, and which location you prefer. Swansea University is by a beach and Swansea is a reasonbly-sized city. Apparently the University of Kent is in parkland north of Canterbury. Also, which course do you prefer?

I know it is possible to be released from offers but I have no idea if it is possible to be released from offers in clearing.

I only know a bit about Kent as I went to their open day and it was my insurance choice. It has an amazing campus and when I went there I was pretty impressed. It's huuuuuge. It would be a good choice if you went there. It's up to you really.

Kent is the better location being an hour away from London close to France and Canterbury is a very beautiful city. I live near Swansea which is a bigger city with more shops though not as picturesque as Canterbury there is probably more nightlife. I don't know about CS but if Kent is ranked higher overall then it is probably the better university.
