    Hi,

I got rejected by my firm, but got accepted by my insurance choice. I was thinking if its possible I could go through clearing with my firm to see if they are willing to accept me on another course or whatever. Is this possible? Yes, I'm happy I got accepted by my insurance choice, but I guess it doesn't harm in checking though.

It is possible to go into Clearing to find an alternative course, but this does mean losing your place at your insurance university. You would have to ask the university you are currently holding a place with to release you into Clearing (this isn't always immediate and can take a while). You need to be released in order to get your Clearing number which other universities will need in order to view your application. While some universities will talk to you without a Clearing number, they won't be able to confirm anything until they have it.

Have you checked if your original firm has places listed in Clearing? This is probably the first thing you want to do. You don't want to drop your current place only to find there is nothing there.

Also think about whether it is really worth it if you are happy with your insurance. Clearing can be a bit of a risk and often some rather quick (and not always well thought through) decisions are made.

Thanks. I've checked if my criminology course is on the clearing page. It might be worth ringing up. I do need to consider what to do next.

Be mindful of the possibility that they could have offered you a place on an alternative course if they thought they had one which would suit you.

If it's in Clearing and you meet their entry requirements then it's definitely worth a call to see if you will be considered.
