I expected that when I logged on here, I would probably be made to feel a failure by the numerous A grades and 100% marks on modules etc.

All I've seen is literally, students worrying over bad grades. I didn't expect this on TSR (from a very stereotypical point of view).

It also seems as if everyone has done quite bad. Everyone I ask, even the people I expected would do brilliant haven't done that great.

    What has happened this year?

The examboards are being harsh? Or stinjy??

No seriously, it tends to only be the people who are not happy with their grades to post threads asking for help.
The people who are jolly happy with their grades don't really need to do so. Although I do remember the guy who posted a thread saying his grades are way beyond his offer for nottingham and he wants to go oxford instead.

People are more likely to post if they've performed badly than if they've performed well... There's no way to really tell, but perhaps they're the vocal minority?

I think it's quite common for people to do badly at AS, this seems to happen every year. GCSEs are easier than AS levels, so some students (having not had to do as much work at GCSE) don't do as much work for AS levels as they need to, leading to lower results. I think a lot of these students realise they have to put a lot more work in after AS results, which is why fewer people seem to have had problems with A2.

It may also be that the people who got AAAA at AS simply don't talk about it on TSR (they don't really need any advice), people will only post if they need help.

A lot of people in my college who were predicted A/Bs got D/Es so I know what you mean. Obviously it's a small sample but it does seem that a lot of AS students have done worse than they expected.

I have to actually agree with you. When I got my GCSEs last year I came on here and I literally felt awful - people were talling up how well they did with the amount of A*'s that they got and I didn't get any, so I felt like such a failure in comparison. Yesterday I got AAAB, I came on here and I'm actually a bit surprised - I was expecting to feel inferior but many were disappointed with their results.

But yeah, A-level is harder, every year you hear the stories of people going from A* at GCSE to an E at A-level and those who got the grades they wanted don't have to ask for advice.

Some of us have done pretty well for ourselves, but the ones that have don't necessarily have the urge to boast or mock others. Plus the grade boundaries, and marking, are relatively harsh this year. Not that that's much of a problem- with unis free to accept as many ABB places as they want, there are a lot more uni places available.

There's plenty of people at both end of the spectrum here, I've seen a few 300s in Maths floating around or similar high scores, maybe some people might just decide not to post grades?
