Realistically speaking, would a woman receive the same sort of punishment as a man for committing things like sexual harassment, rape, faking a rape, sexually exploiting a minor, domestic abuse etc.?

    If not, why not?

What percentage of women are not charged compared to men? (Irrelevant if women commit less crime, referring to % of women vs % of men).

    Thanks.

UK laws for sexual assault with penetration were only amended to include women as sex offenders in the year 2003. Previously, women who molested children were only charged with indecent assault.

Men Sentenced To Longer Prison Terms Than Women For Same Crimes, Study Says:

If you're a convicted criminal, the best thing you can have going for you might be your gender.

Starr also found that females arrested for a crime are also significantly more likely to avoid charges and convictions entirely, and twice as likely to avoid incarceration if convicted.

Feminist researchers find female sex offenders get slaps on the wrist:

Many people have noted the stark difference in the sentences male and female sex offenders receive. Female offenders tend to walk away with probation, time served, or very low jail sentences compared to male offenders. Some have denied this bias, others have ignored, and others have rationalized it as extension of “Patriarchy.”

Ironically, members of the latter group recently published a study about that issue. The study Sex-Based Sentencing: Sentencing Discrepancies Between Male and Female Sex Offenders published in Feminist Criminology confirms that female offenders do indeed receive lesser sentences than male offenders do.

Women should not be sent to prison and should instead serve community sentences, according to a new report by the Women's Justice Taskforce.

So what was that about equality?

    You've done a poll asking people's gender.

I can believe this, although a study should be done into the precise reasons. I've also read that you are significantly less likely to be charged if you are attractive (that has nothing to do with gender, I'm simply pointing out that juries are flawed in many ways as well as gender).

However, whatever 'facts' we bring up here, the only way to resolve it is with a proper scientific study, run by the government. I'd be happy to petition for that.

Males Get Longer Sentences than Females for Same Crime:

When Etta Ann Urdiales was murdered in Colorado, two completely different juries convicted two different people of the crime. Both juries believed there was only one murderer. One convicted Bobbie Hogan, a woman. The other convicted Jess Jacobs, a man. She got 10 years in prison. He was put to death.

This case is just one example of the rampant discrimination men face in criminal courts throughout the United States.

    http://www.ifeminists.com/introducti...002/0423a.html

So there were basically 2 suspects being convicted of a crime but only one was actually guilty, 1 male and 1 female due to a confusion. The male gets the death sentence...

Even though there wasn't many details about the case, my heart sank to the pit of my stomach The thought of a woman comiting any kind of abuse is very hard to comprehend, especially to children she gave birth to

The system definately needs upgrading, not just to make it equal for genders but also the tariff should fit the crime..our system is flawed in so many ways  She should be hung..but for the sake of the children should she be named

This comment pretty much sums it up:

This is an example of traditional female privilege that feminism has held onto while blaming it on the imaginary patriarchy.

Judges have been told to deal less severely with female criminals than men when determining how to sentence them.

Woman who got innocent taxi driver arrested on false rape claim gets 20 months behind bars:

Angela England jailed over Conwy false rape allegation.

A mother who falsely accused a taxi driver of raping her has been jailed for 20 months at Mold Crown Court.

Woman jailed over false rape claim that caused a man to be arrested:

An Essex woman has been jailed for 12 months for falsely claiming that she had been raped.

Cathy Richardson, 26, from Viking Court in Shoebury, told officers she had been sexually assaulted several times over two months in 2012 by a man she knew.
