V592 - Restoration of the "Right to Buy" Bill 2013, TSR Government

Restoration of the "Right to Buy" Act 2013

An act to restore the "Right to Buy" and amend B511

BE IT ENACTED by The Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Commons in this present Parliament assembled, in accordance with the provisions of the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

    1. Repeal
    (1) For the purposes of this act B519 is hereby repealed and sections 3-6 of B511 reactivated
    (2) For the purposes of this act Part 2, section 6 of B511 is hereby repealed

    2. Amendment to Section 6 of Part 2 of B511
    (1) The figure of 500,000 homes being the requirement for the suspention of the "Right to Buy" to end will be increased to 1,000,000

    3. Commencement, short title and extent
    (1) This Act may be cited as the Restoration of the "Right to Buy" Act 2013
    (2) This bill shall extend to England
    (3) Shall come into force from 1st April 2014 following Royal Assent.

    Notes
In the Building Economic growth Act (B511) the right to buy was suspended for a short period however in the Building Economic Growth (Amendment) Act (B519) this was then amended to repeal the Right to Buy entirely.

We believe this to be wrong and hope to restore the original Building Economic Growth Act.

No. The Right to Buy scheme was another disastrous measure designed to reduce public control over public services. Local communities elect local councils, and local councils should thus have a say over which homes they sell and when.

No. The reason the 'Right to Buy' was repealed was because of an incredulously understocked Housing market, and therefore, without putting in place measures to build more housing, this move is pointless.

Unless homes are built to the highest efficiency standard and renewable tech is properly integrated, with appropriate provisions for cheap housing available to all (not just for current social housing tenants) and rent/house price controls to complement, I will vote Nay. Guess it's a Nay then...
