I'm starting college in 2 weeks and I still need to choose whether to study Art or English Lit! Which would be more beneficial for getting into Medical School. I don't mind either.

I'm worried art would be a little too time consuming. English lit is time consuming also but also more academically rigorous, which is what Med schools look for, right?

    Please help!

I'd take English Lit if I was intending to go to Med school. Art is only relevant if you go on to study something Art related.

English lit, I have numerous friends who are at med school who did lit to A2, but I don't know anyone who did art. I believe russell group unis see art as less academically rigorous, so probably isn't the best option if you're looking to study medicine

Assuming that you're only studying 3, some medical schools state that they prefer the third subject to be science related although this isn't the case for everywhere and in most cases Eng Lit or Art would be acceptable so look upon that as you will.

Pick whichever one you're more likely to get an A in. Art students at my school were always in the art room during lunch and free periods and doing further work so Eng Lit would probably be best as it probably won't encroach on your other subjects as much. (Just an outsider's opinion as I did neither subject)

It's all about getting your AAA at the end of it all so bear that in mind.
