Hi, i'm in a bit of a pickle really!
I applied for Marine Biology and Biology this year as my firm and insurance - both at the same university, with the same grade conditions.
I received a place on my firm, but i really don't want to do Marine Biology anymore, since i feel Biology opens up more career prospects and such.
Is there any way i can switch from Marine Biology (my firm) to Biology (my insurance)?
    Thank you for any help!

Nope, I was accepted at my firm at City but I called up SOAS, they gave me an offer an I changed my course. You have to first get a verbal offer then get released from your firm. Then you can accept the new course on UCAS track,

    Deep Breaths

You clearly wanted the Marine to start with
Re-read your PS and remind yourself of the passion you felt then

I think that you have talked yourself out of the Marine whilst waiting for them to update

You can probably start Marine and then talk to people at Stirling (have I got that right) about shifting if you really do not like it

Can you actually switch course if you don't like it?

    It has been known

    Choice 1
Stick with Marine and sea what happens

    Choice 2
Call and ask for Bio now - if it is in clearing they will probably be fine with this

Happens quite often in many similar courses.

I think i'll call them - if i do get in, i'll just have to sort out all my Student Finance
I could do a Biology degree then just apply or a year of Marine Biology afterwards

Check with student services, often there is a deadline for course change once you have started, if you miss that you may have to wait a year. That also then comes with grade criteria, less than a 2.1, for example, and you can't be accepted to new course. With your course being so close it probably wont be an issue.

But really, Biology, Marine Biology, Biology, Marine Biology, is it going to make that much difference to career prospects? Chances are you'll be going on to postgrad if you're to be following a biology pathway, that will be the choice that really firms your future choices.

Sounds more like second guessing and last minute jitters. Take a breath.

I just read over their course content for both courses and i prefer the Biology one
Would you ring the Clearing Hotline to try and switch course?

Start there and they'll tell you if it's the wrong place.
