I'm only 1 UMS (0.3 raw marks!!!) away from an A grade in AS English literature. I'd love to study it at university so I could really do with an A for applications to Russell Group unis.
I've been told that a re-mark would be a good option as English is quite subjective and it's likely that a different examiner would give a different mark.
What would your advice be? What are my chances of just getting a couple of extra marks to make my B an A?

Definitely do it. You'll be in for a strong shot and anyway what's the worst that can happen...

Do it, of all remarks i've submitted for students things like English change the most.

Obviously your UMS could go down, but its very very unlikely that you'd drop to a C because you are so close to the A grade. Not impossible though, so bear that in mind.

I would first of all ask for a photocopy from the exam board (the deadline is the 22nd of August) - it's cheaper than a remark (about £10). You can then look through the photocopy with a teacher or whoever, who can help you decide whether your work was A standard or not. If they think it is - go for a remark

This way, you ensure you won't go down at all and you can still have a remark after the photocopy. A note of caution though, whatever you do, do not ask for your original script back, as once you have this you can't ask for a remark.

It sounds like such a small difference that it's definitely worth doing, and also remember that even if you are still stuck with B, if you get slightly higher at A2 you'll bring your average up

    Good luck
