brazil sacked from Talksport

TalkSPORT have sacked Alan Brazil, co-presenter of The Sports Breakfast alongside Mike Parry, according to The Daily Mail Newspaper.

The former Ipswich and Scotland striker failed to appear for last Friday's show which he co-presents with Mike Parry. However Brazil's latest absence, after three day's presenting The Sports Breakfast from the Cheltenham Festival, finally tipped the balance for station boss Kelvin MacKenzie, who has become increasingly frustrated during the past 18 months with Brazil missing shows.

He received a number of written warnings from the station and have been concerned for some time about Brazil's champagne lifesyle, which has left him unfit to go on air a number of times. talkSPORT were also fed up with having to make excuses to listeners that their best paid anchor man at £200,000 a year, was unwell.

Brazil, currently on a skiing holiday, strongly defends his behaviour. He said "talkSPORT encouraged my social life, telling me to go here and there. There were times after a big do when, yes, I wasn't in the right shape to go on the radio."

"I admit I've missed shows during my four years at talkSPORT, but I believe my appearance record over that time compares favourably with other top presenters. I'm gutted that it's blown up with Kelvin. I wanted to carry on and I believe I had a genuine reason for not turning up last Friday. In my opinion talkSPORT have broken up their best partnership which was the main reason for listening to the station, I'm taking legal advice."

Patrick Kinghorn and Tony Cascarino, the station's drivetime hosts who are currently filling-in on The Sports Breakfast, could be in the frame to take over with Adrian Durham another possible replacement. However, talkSPORT's Spanish football correspondent Paul Breen-Turner is favourite to take over.

i always was a big fan of the show but he deserves all he gets if this attitude is true

Darn, I'm so used to that partnership. But I guess if Brazil is going to act like that, he's bound to get sacked.

yeah i know parry used to mock brazil for his 'party' 'showbiz' lifestyle but i found it funny and all part of the act

but not turning up to shows is just asking to be sacked

Happened to Chris Evans even when he owned the radio station (IIRC)

true....but I do remember finding it funny that he was sacked from his own company

I particularly liked this bit of the brazil story though:

or

talkSPORT are the one's who've lost out because I'm so great - but I'm going to sue them anyway

the bit that made ma laugh was that he is defending his showbiz social life, then that was followed by:

"Brazil, currently on a skiing holiday"

This is a perfect opportunity for arguably the greatest Radio quote of all time...

Alan Brazil: It was sad to hear this morning of the death of John Shaw.
Mike Parry: John Thaw, Alan.
Alan Brazil: Do you know, I keep getting his name wrong. John, if you're listening, sorry mate.

Quality!
Parry is pure class in the mornings - Brazil is a git

Yes you are correct. Brazil is a bit of a c*ck. He got sacked from Sky sports when he commentated on Nationwide League games. The reason being he said he was better than Andy Gray and that he wanted his job on the main premiership games. He was accordingly told to sling his hook.

he's back now though, personally thought the show was rubbish when he wasnt there. although i can't always listen to it without switching it off cos mike parry does wind me up with some things he says.
plus i need alan brazil on there to make sure ipswich arent completely ignored by the media.
