Not caring about how you look

I don't know why but I don't care how I look, im almost 21 but only look about 14/15 (even when I dress up) according to some so maybe thats why, why bother if people think im a kid anyway lol. Obviously I care to an extent I will make sure any spots are concealed and im wearing clean clothes but Im not really bothered unless theres a guy I like or something then I'l wear make up lol. Even my mum calls me ugly and says im a disgrace at 20 and that I could be really pretty if I made an effort. Id just say im average though, is anyone else like this? Also guys do you really care how a girl looks or is it just most girls that over do it:confused: If this makes sense.

When I was very depressed I didn't bother at all.

Nothing wrong with being casual, as long as you are clean.

oh my god. how mean is your mum.
next time she calls you ugly say can say will just remember im related to you :p: haha
anyway....as long as your comfortable with yourself i wouldnt care what anyone else thinks.
make up isnt needed to make someone look pretty. everyone is pretty in their own way.

Some of my friends won't even go out of the house without spedning ages getting ready, said friends are, obviously outraged that I do not wear copious amounts of make up everyday.
but meh.

Im happy.
I don't really mind what others think of me, obviously there are always going to be better and worse

I have one ugly rough ass beard at the moment, because I'm in exams and can't be arsed looking tidy.

I care how I look but don't obsess about make up, hair etc. If I go out I will make an effort, if I'm at home or just nipping down the shops I won't bother. Depends where I'm going and who I'm seeing, but I always feel better about myself when I've put a little effort in.

no one wants a scruffy gf who doesnt take care of how they look. Your 20 so start acting like it, get some self respect and start looking your age and acting it.

Thats how I think, there is always someone who looks worse knocking about, also Ive always thought its what you look like underneath that matters Id say I have a nice body, not overweight or anything and healthy. Anyone can wear nice clothes so I just don't care how I look.

I prefer girls who don't make an obvious effort. I reckon it shows they are more confident about how they really are.

Are you living in the 1950s? This is especially odd coming from a woman, as it is normally ignorant men who try to enforce the idea that it is a woman's duty to loom good. I don't see why, as long as a person is clean, there should be any obligation for them to make themselves look good for other people - of course this might result in less interest from members of the opposite sex, but if this interest is not wanted then this doesn't matter.

I myself rarely make an effort to look good unless I have a specific reason to. The kind of people I spend most of my time with do not care in the slightest about how I look, and as long as I'm clean (well, at least sometimes :p: ) I'm not too bothered about how I look. I very rarely wear anything but the plainest clothes because I see them as practical items rather statements about who I am or what I want others to think of me.

unless you are REALLY bad looking im sure most boys wont mind. No-one is ugly unless they are overly obese or disfigured, trust me i wouldnt mind about your appearance too much as long as we had a good conversation  you got nothing to worry about by the sounds of it. Tell your mom to stfu, you made her its her genes and her fault and she should wear some make up to cover that zit excuse for a face.

lol thats just the way i think, if your bf's friends saw you walking down the road and you looked like **** they would tell people how bad you looked and how ugly you were. so there for you must always look good for your bf and vise versa, if my bf looked like **** i'd tell him to go home cos no one wants a bf who cant dress or is 'ugly'.

i'd never say that to my boyfriend, firsty because its damn rude, and secondly because he could never look ugly to me, especially not through the clothes that he wore.

and if he ever said that to me, which i know he wouldn't, i'd tell him to get stuffed.

based on these two posts you seem about as deep as a puddle.

I'm the same but I'm a guy and an adult so I'll get my hair cut and shave whenever it pleases me. I'll wear underwear when I feel like it too :P

I'm also 20 as it happens. I like the 'messy' or 'I don't give a ***t' look hehe.

If I remember correctly, from a pic she posted she is not so unscruffy herself:p:
Nah as long as a girl is clean and healthy it doesn't matter most girls probably make the effort to please themselves.

Yep that's what I think. If someone likes me the way they see me most days (not dressed up or particularly well groomed) then they'll definitely like me when I take some time to look 'good'. Hasn't caused my any problems and I prefer being different.

Those girls who are ORANGE with fake tan and just look a mess are the ones I laugh at. Also feel kinda sorry for them.

To the OP, I wouldn't worry. Be yourself.

I'm not one of the dressing up kind of girls either. I just wear jeans and a t-shirt normally and even those arn't brand new. I'm a student and can't afford to splash out on nice and new clothes all the time just to look nice for other people. My clothes may seem a little scruffy but if I'm just lounging around the house, popping the shop or even just sitting in a lecture I don't care. I see girls in 9am lectures with their hair and make up all done and wearing clothes I myself would consider too dressy even for a night out. They must get up at 5am to prepare.

I rarely wear make up during the day and if I do it's just a bit of mascara. I only wear eye make up on a night out. I make more of an effort when I'm going out but even then I'm not overly dressy. I've always been more of a casual dressed person.

The only thing I make sure I do is shower everyday and I feel funny about going shopping or to uni with greasy hair.
