I am panicking as I've been to a few open days and they said its an advantage to have done placement or volunteer work in a hospital but all the hospitals I've asked have said they're not looking for volunteers under 18. I'm 17 btw guys! And I have to find a placement now in time for when I start and I'm just wondering whether I'll still be accepted into university to midwifery if I haven't got this knowledge or experience?!

Work experience or volunteer work does not specifically have to be in a hospital setting, you could always look at other options. Some people I know have volunteered at breast feeding support groups, or you could contact independent midwives to shadow them.. You can contact health visitors and see if they can offer you anything?! There's plenty out there if you search for it.. It doesn't have to be specific to midwifery either, any work experience you do that can show the university that you have transferable skills will be fine! It doesnt have to be a hospital, so dont worry!Hope this helps and good luck x
