So I hope to study English at university, however my AS results in English was a C, although I have sent this for a remark i'm not sure what to expect and don't want to hold all my hopes on the remark. I wanted to apply to the top UK universities like Oxford etc, but now i think that since I want to do English they would not want me. My other 3 AS levels were all A's which should be a positive, but i'm confused as to whether or not I can realistically apply to these top universities. Can anybody give me some advice or just be honest about what you think of my situation thanks!

I would retake some modules during A2 (I did this Albeit not in English) to pull the grade up. I did them in the January of A2 year.

I do AQA English lit so we only have one exam and coursework, and in the course work I got a high A so getting that remarked won't be that significant!

And is it not possible to retake the exam?
It's a tricky one because I'm not going to say give up on English at all. Maybe look at uni's and see if try require English to be a certain grade?

I have already sent my paper to be remarked, but I don't want all my hopes to be pined on the remark but thanks for the advice and I might just resit the exam altogether next year which will be a last resort for me!

If you want to apply for top unis like Oxford, they'll be looking for an A* in English Lit, which you can only get if you get 80%+ in AS modules and 90%+ in A2 modules (if I remember rightly). So you'll definitely need to retake - check with your teacher to see if it was just the exam that let you down or if it involved coursework too.
I would investigate unis that don't require such high grades too - you can't pin all your hopes on one if the same thing happens this time next year. But you can definitely apply for it - so good luck!
