I'm applying for DSA as I suffer mental health problems. However, my laptop is about to give up the ghost and I'm unsure as to whether to buy one so that I'm definitely prepared for the beginning of term, or whether to wait and see whether I would be eligible for a lighter thinner one through the DSA (as my mental health has physical implications also)

Does anyone have any opinions/prior experience as to whether I'd perhaps get funding for a laptop?
    Thank you

I have mental health problems, and was issued a laptop. You don't get a light/thin one you're usually issued the Toshiba C850-1K3. It's a 15 inch Laptop. It's about 2.3kg in weight.

If you can prove your physical limitations require light objects they will sometimes buy a lighter one or pay towards a lighter one!

DSA are able to supply lightweight laptops (at around 1.4KG) for medical reasons where evidence supports this. I'm not sure how a mental health condition would result in someone being unable to bear the weight of standard laptop (around 2.3KG) but if you can obtain the evidence submit to your funding body.
