I've received my accommodation placement and I've discovered I'll be sharing the entire flat with a group of people who are all friends already and are 4 years older than me. (I've not turned 18 just yet!) Anyway, I'm not exactly looking forward to it, surely it would have been sensible to put me in with a mix of people. Already I feel like an outsider.

Would it be worth contacting the company who sort your accommodation and requesting somewhere different?

You can ask to change, but if that's not possible then I'm sure you'll still get on alright - they're quite probably very nice people, and you can make friends with people in nearby flats, people from your course, and people from societies too.
