Cerazette

Does anyone have any experience of this pill?

I went to see the doctor with a view to getting an implant and he suggested I switch to a progesterone-only pill for a few months to see whether I get on with it, before getting the implant, which is also progesterone only. I'm staying on my current pill, which is Microgynon 30, until after my holiday and then switching to Cerazette. Has anyone ever used it? What is it like? Anything I should know about?

yes i used it for 6 months - it basically stopped my periods completely (which apparantly is very rare). I switched from microgynon 30 as well. I had put on a few pounds with that pill but i didnt put anymore on with cerazette. It didnt have any side effects and you have a 12 hour gap to take it rather than 3 hours like other mini pills which is better i guess. I would recommend it.

Thanks, sounds promising. Just out of interest, why did you stop using it?

The doctor suggested this to me.

I said no.

She put the implant in

I take cerazette and I can't say I've ever had any real problems with it. Like the other poster it's stopped my periods completely, which for me is a huge bonus. I perhaps get a few more spots with it, nothing major though.

The only thing that did bother me was that when I first started taking it, it did cause me to have a period which lasted nearly six weeks ... when I asked the nurse about this she said that this is quite a common side effect of starting this type of pill. Possibly I should have gone back to her earlier but I just put up with it, it stopped and now, like I said, I don't have periods. I've been on it now for just over a year and I've been fine with it.

I like you (and the earlier poster) switched from Microgynon to Cerazette. In my opinion it's fantastic. I have no side effects, and my periods have completely stopped! Which is nice:-) Also, whenever i've changed pill before i've had issues with my boobs growing at least 1 cup size. This didn't happen with Cerazette - thankfully... they're about as big as i can cope with atm! And i haven't put on any weight.

I think he would have agreed to it if I'd pushed, but I'm going on holiday to Africa in a couple of months and really don't want to be having unexplained bleeding!

I'm on it, and I've had bad experiences with the combined Pill, but no problems with this!

Stopped my periods, but I had spotting and it made me rather miserable, increased my appetite greatly, gave me headaches and bad stomach cramps..found it generally horrible!
