Hey all, I'm new here and I was just wondering if I'd be able to get into a respectable Uni. The problem is I done terrible at GCSE, as I didn't care for education then I got D's across the board and it was quite depressing seeing as I was in the top sets up until year 10 and that's when it started going down-hill. I was an idiot and I know that now but anyway, I got all D's and then decided to go to college, I wished I went to 6th form now but I didn't want to go then and I doubt they'd let me in with my attitude. But whilst at college I done public services level 3 and got all Distinction* which equates to 360 UCAS points. So, I've got a good number of points but then when I look at the Uni entry requirements they talk about minimum C grades at GCSE......

Will I have to retake my GCSE's in order to be accepted?

    Thanks!!

I'm afraid that you probably will have to retake English and Maths at the very least. Talk to the universities you are interested in. If you are a mature student, they may be flexible, but it's best to get it straight from the horse's mouth.

You've got nothing to lose you may aswell try and get a place at university they may be understanding about your GCSE results, but what you could do is look for a university asking for 340 UCAS points for example so that you exceed their requirments in terms of UCAS points and then they may not be too fussed about your GCSE results.

Well done on your college results

You will find it next to impossible to go to university without a C+ in Maths and English (B+ at a growing number of universities)

A number of universities will insist on at least 5 C+ grades at GCSE (or equivalent)

Have you totally finished college or do you have another year to go?

Yes. I've totally finished. I want to become a P.E teacher, that's why I'm looking at Sports Science courses and for the most part I can get in, it's just the GCSE results.

I done public services because I'd like to become a fireman and I know that the job role does not require a degree but then later on I wanted to become a part time P.E teacher or teach anywhere as a part time job or even full time if the benefits and lifestyle is better than that of a fireman.

I will contact the Uni's I'd like to enter first and if they say I need to improve on my GCSE results then I will it's just embarrassing

    Thanks!!!
