hair dye allergy

I used some 'nice and easy' hair dye on Tuesday night and my scalp as been itchy and felt sore, I can't see any red or anything it just feels uncomfortable. The dye I used was permanent though and Ive just read a article about a woman who used it and her face puffed up, she died. Im wondering how long after using something does the worst part of a allergy occur?

I'm not sure really, I'm sure you wont die honey! That's extremely rare!! If you're very concerned ring the NHS Direct tonight or tomorrow and see what they advise. Irritation can happen to anyone, i've had it and it went away but if any other side effects occur then act on it xxxx

K, thanks. What is permanent 'level 3'? What do the levels mean does anyone know?

I think It is how permanent the permenent is (that..sort of...makes ..sence...no?). (though I think was the key term)

Natural hair looks nicer than died hair.

not always, the only way i can get my hair to shine is to dye it. Ive tried loads of different shampoos and treatements, but my hair just seems dull and lifeless. Dying it has been the only option for me. But anyway back to the topic, the first few times i dyed my hair, my scalp left tight. I think my scalp has gotten used to the dye now, all i get is stinging if ive got spots or scatches on my head.

Generally, I think if you were going to get as severe a reaction as was in the magazine; it would have happened by now. I used some eyelash dye a few times- the first three it was ok, but after the fourth time of using it I woke up at about 4am, after applying it at 10pm, with my eyes completely swollen and itching.

It sounds like you had a slight reaction to the hair dye, but it doesn't sound too serious. Best to visit your doctor and see if they can possibly give you something to make the reaction go down. Did you do a patch test before using it?
