Three floors, two bathrooms! Ground floor: shower room, first floor: kitchen, third floor: bathroom! There are four bedrooms on the bottom floor, two on the second and four on the third!

Thank you, but I'm in room seven and on the second floor so that doesn't work because there can't be four rooms on the third floor

You actually have the best quad in the world haha! When I was in first year, Blocks AA,BB (mine),CC,DD,EE and Block 103 were all really good friends (and one of the rare 'massive friendship circles' that survived the post freshers narrowdown (we all kept in contact and obviously saw each other regularly).
Treat the quad well Fresher! XD

Yeah, we bonded because there was so much to complain about lol. Common room is crap, buildings are crap (the noise of anything permeates anywhere), no cash point for 20 mins, the bus in the mornings on the way to uni are ALWAYS packed with Oadby'ers, theres no student bar, no student gym, usually 1 out of 3 washing machines in the laundry room is broken haha.
Ahh Mary Gee!

Aww lol don't be disappointed, trust me student living in MG supersedes any negatives (and I complain a lot haha). Yeah I started off walking to Uni with our friends group to get used to it. It takes 18 minutes (averagely) through the small town to get to uni (which will become your very relied upon place for minor stuff: Sainsbury's local, greengrocers, costa coffee, about 4 takeaways that deliver to Mary gee, and a pharmacy).
There was a period of time towards the end of my first semester where I got a bike but like 75% of the bikes chained outside it got nicked (!!bike thieves are a major issue!!) oh and lock the backdoor (the bolt-lock one)- because last year me and my housemate managed to get back into our old MG house thru the backdoor_ we were getting our christmas tree we left behind in the attic lol.
Do not bother trying to squeeze on the bus, they often just drive past without stopping at peak 9am time.

In terms of facilities, the town in the direction of uni is approx 15mins away, there is also a post office about 12 mins in the same direction. For alcohol for pre-drinks: along the way to town there is a shop called Fizz Pop and there is a shop called Bargain Booze in town (tops time 15mins).
For Oadby, if you are going there for the gym it is about 35mins walk. If you want to head to ASDA in Oadby that is far for a casual walk (45mins), but there is a free bus from MaryGee called the 'beaver' (insert LOL here) every Tuesday which is when most people do their weekly grocery shop.

ANY other questions just ask!! can't wait for next week!!
(btw 2nd and 3rd years host the craziest house and mansion parties all year round xD- so don't be afraid to get to know them)
Thanks Capn cas :h: that was superr informativeee !!! will you be staying at mary gee this year too? I'm on the second floor block KK:smile: i do not plan to ride a bike, but walk mostly instead, however is the bus fares expensive? and how is the nightlife in leicester, i currently live in london and the nightlife is gd :^_^:

Oh no, i'm going to be third year! But I will always treasure the good and the bad times at Mary Gee:h:. One time we discovered in the attic between some of the houses that there is a tunnel into the next house, long story short when I was in BB (which is the same block of housing as you are in being KK) we pranked the girls next door by going through the tunnel and dropping 6 rape alarms from the attic onto the top floor at like 4 in the morn_they freaked out HARD .
Bus fares are not expensive, way cheaper than London's £2.35 without an oyster, probs about £1.75 per trip (although one time I was 5p short, I had to run out because I overslept and the bus driver didn't let me on :angry:so make sure you have the correct change).
Leicester's nightlife is actually good (I was quite scared of that when I came) but having two uni's in it's city with a total student population of over 40,000 means there is a lot going on at night. Any questions about the clubs or bars just ask ^^. Even if the nightlife isn't for you our student union has the most societies of any students union in the country lol, so most things you could be interested in the uni probably has.
But as you guessed i'm from London too, my favourite club in the WHOLE world is Fabric in Farringdon (if you've ever heard of it) best atmosphere out of anywhere personally. This year i'm living in Clarendon park (edge around uni) which is about 6 mins walk to uni and definitely the better student area (the dark side is Evington, which is cheap and nasty_whereas ours is cheap and cheerful).
:awesome::giggle::giggle::giggle: ahahaaha thats hilariouss!! ahaha, is the block mixed genders? and isit really 10 people sharing kitchen and bathroom?i'm intrigued..!!

Things might have changed (I highly, highly doubt it) but the blocks are single sex. I was sooo disappointed, because I wanted to experience living with girls lol :colondollar:. There was only one mixed block in my time in the whole of MaryGee, which is about 60 blocks. Although, you'll find that because the houses on either side are opposite sex, you'll have everyone coming in and out of each other's houses all the time.. I think we did a lot of mixed movie nights in someone's room and we'd alternate pre-drinks between our block kitchens.
It is 10 people sharing the kitchen (but it is manageable- particularly if you cook together for a communal meal) but there are two bathrooms (one on the top and one on the bottom), I was lucky I was so sharp on the bottom floor. I'd always sprint to get in there to sort myself on time for 9am lectures and stuff.
Haha, I haven't had a part time job at uni: in first year at Poker society I won about £450 (and at the casino in town I won about £400 as well) so I didn't really need one:colondollar:. But I can definitely recommend where to look: bar work is big (R-bar/Time Bar/Vodka Revs/Loaded Dog/our 02 itself), promoting is big (you know those people that just hang around with the signs or the tickets-had a few friends doing this), if you are not a night-time person there are lots of service jobs on campus (till-work, stocking), in our city mall called Highcross there are loads of shops you could work at (you will find out where it is because there is a day in Fresher's fortnight called the 'Highcross lock in' whereby all students get major discounts off loads of clothes and stuff.
I also didn't have time for any part time job, I was in 5 societies in first year and in the year just gone I was President of two societies lol. So busy busy busy (the good thing about being on the committee or the President means you can force freshers to drink and down their drinks xD ohh how Freshers are made to suffer:clap2:).
In terms of clubs: If you like Hit40 Uk/VIVA music/ Cheeseeey music the 02 (our students union) has Red leicester nights (but everyone goes to these), if you like alternative/rock there is a club further into the city called Mosh which does stuff like that, there is a Liquid and Envy (which i'm pretty sure is the first place that you guys are hitting as it is the first event), other various small DnB and places, Vodka revs is a good place on a nice lane (the walk back to Mary Gee from here is killer xD) I think they are hosting the 'hot tub' party during freshers fortnight. The undisputed best club which everyone goes to is Republic: 4 rooms (Main room-Pop/ side room-R & B, Dance and DNB in other rooms and admittedly the other room I hardly ever visit. You will learn all about these places if you do the Freshers events .
So what subject you studying? : I can tell you if they do good bar crawls or themed nights ^^

It's good to see our efforts have resulted in a better future for guys and girls of Mary Gee:unimpressed:. I mean in all honesty I loved the girls next door and we are awesome friends to this day, but they lived like Pigs . So I look back and think I dodged a bullet.

No one will be piggy in my block or I may have to be in a constant state of she-hulk hahaha

I refuse to be the only one to clean the kitchen and bathrooms though :frown:
