Hey for exams, for sub fusc is a normal white "school" shirt ok with the white bow tie with a school black jacket or are you expected to wear a dress shirt and dinner jacket?

Sub fusc is never a dinner jacket/dress shirt (although people who don't own suits do do this and it is acceptable, but if you have the suit...)

Sub fusc is a dark suit with white shirt!

Black tie, white tie and sub fusc are different things...:p:

So subfusc is basically a dark suit, except instead of wearing a normal tie you wear a white bow tie?

Yep, and a gown of course
Black socks, black shoes compulsory - don't get caught out and fined for navy socks!

Fined?!? But that's... how much?

So ambassador-stylee red socks with suit is frowned upon? The cruelty.

Standards are there to be kept, I spose.

As long as it looks moderately smart. I believe the sub-fusc is technically normal collared, but you can get away with either normal or winged.

I've worn character socks with sub-fusc before now and it has never been a problem. Of course, if one is female and wearing a skirt it can be harder to get away with.

Anyone know the rules about tights/socks for with a skirt? Its a bit hot for tights but don't fancy getting fined on the way in - I'll have enough concerns at that point! (I know I should have the guidelines but I can't find them under the masses of revision notes, etc!)

Even an impoverished student can afford socks from Primark or Tesco. Just buy one pair and wear them for every exam :p:

If nothin else I have advertised the glory of sub-fusc to the outside world of TSR

Thanks Nutter
Pffft. I nearly got fined today for carrying a bottle of shaving foam! It got confiscated (before I trashed anyone) :frown:

How harsh. I wasn't even spraying it, I was already covered in the bloody stuff. I was simply holding it for the friend who sprayed me...and innocently waiting around for our PPEists to come out...

*has finished yey*

The proctors are ridiculously harsh  I mean it's just a little over the top sometimes.

I was told women have to wear tights/stockings i.e. no socks. Not sure how true this is

This trashing thing after exams where people cover each other in eggs and foam and flour - does it happen every year? Seems like a good way to spoil a decent suit...

When i had prelims (hah, 'in my day...') - before the major proctor clamp down it mostly seemed to be spraying of champagne & glitter/confetti etc. Post clamp-down & warning about alcohol open fines blah blah blah people seem to have resorted to more "household" items, which probably look less blatent - but seem the eggs/flour/foam/fish i find far more disgusting & messy...

Re trashing - erm, tis not just randoms who hang out & trash anyone - but friends of the trashee. So if you don't have any, or tell them not to & they respect that then you won't. Personally i've had enough balloons to nearly make me float away, lots of glitter, sprinkles (=multicoloured blouse when mixed with champagne!), champagne (un-opened until college, of course...), garlands, bunny ears, plasters & bandages (spot the theme there, ho ho), flowers & chocolates force fed. But men seem to enjoy the disgusting things more...the ones i know choose their suit/shirts for red carnation days strategically!
