Depressed....

Im normally really really happy and most things dont phase me at all. I rarely cry, and when I do its about serious things - like failing exams arguments with my parents etc, and recently i just want to cry and cry and cry.:frown: I have a great life- there is nothing wrong with it that I can see - I mean I have a wonderful family, amazing friends, and all you lot on TSR! My friends have all noticed a difference, saying that I seem really depressed and really not myself at all. I mean - after exams you should be happy that they are all over right? then why, on Sunday after all my exams had finished, was I unable to stop crying?:frown: The only thing I can think of is that its been almost a year since I moved to this house - but that hasnt affected me recently, and i havent really thought much about my old town and friends, coz I have a better life here. I just dont know whats wrong with me :frown:

Sorry I just needed to get it off my chest....:frown:

Have you been tired recently?

A bit, not as tired as I usually am...

Ah, right. With me I start to feel really down if I haven't been sleeping well or something.

I don't think it's depression. Lots of people go through times when they have anxiety or lots of stress etc. or even very minor things and think that they have depression. I'm not saying that's the case with you, but just pointing it out as its such an overdiagnosed illness and many people end up on antidepression pills which they don't need and end up causing lots of other unnecessary problems.

^Sorry, I know that won't make you feel better but I think it's important that I say it.

Have any other things happened that you think might have caused you to feel this way?

You are not depressed, because

1. You have labelled your unusual emotion as depression (that's you being presumptious) before thinking why you feel that way.

2. You feeling like crying, shows its def not depression; you're stressed, feeling down accompanied with cryful thoughts is a stress-relief reaction.

3. depressed people don't feel like talking about themselves.

All good points, I agree.

Maybe you're just feeling a little overwhelemd with exams being over? I'm half way through my exams and feel that by the end of my last exam, I'm just going to collapse into tears with relief!

I could understand one or two days of wanting to collapse into tears with relief, but almost an entire week? this is the longest Ive ever been down for :frown:

Post-exam depression.

You've done all that hard work, but now you're feeling a great big anti-climax, you've got nothing to do for the next three months, you're unbelievably bored.

My advice - find something to keep you busy and, more importantly, dedicated. Teach yourself to play the piano, for example.

Already play the piano and flute....could always get a job...

It almost certainly is depression. I've been depressed for months at a stretch - it only gets worse. The main things to do are to keep eating healthily and to keep busy. The sooner you break out of it the easier it will be... see your friends more, or go for a walk, or just do something. Sitting and being inactive just sets off a chain reaction.
